Some of you are aware that work has been done on a new map for the region. This map is a combination of fractal terrain generation, a good deal of manual tweaking and manipulation, erosion modeling, and so on. It has, at the time of this writing, been exported as a high resolution set of tiles viewable with the Google Earth plug-in.

    Capitalist Paradise Planet: http://capitalistparadise.com/forums/pages/map/

The idea is to build a system by which NationStates can claim chunks of land in an automated fashion using point and click selection of slices of a grid, the number of tiles being based on their population. Note that this is only in the planning phase and has not entered development yet. At that time, we will be able to have a border overlay showing where each of our region's nations are, updated dynamically by our userbase. The advantage of this is that it removes the cumbersome step of manually maintaining a map through cte's, population growth or recession, and so on.

Additional overlays may include: Climate, Altitude, Average Rainfall, Average Temperature.

I will put together a Wikipedia style factbook on our 'planet', including things such as the axis tilt, circumference, some details about our atmosphere, the heat of our sun, amount and percentage of both land and sea.

Stay tuned here for more information as it comes.

What do you need to do to get territory in the future?

This link does not require a plugin to view, seems to play nice with mobile devices, and is going to be the framework on which the tools for claiming land will be built.

It seems like the planet isn't playing well with any of my browsers. It completely crashes Firefox and slows down Chrome significanly. Is anyone else having this problem?

How does one claim a spot on the map? I'm looking for something northern. Not quite in a polar cap, but fairly close.

Will the map have any special features?

I will not announce my spot

Does anyone know the order of which nations will be claiming?

Good question, I would think by population so that the larger nations can be unified rather than dotted about the map.

But why should larger states be unified? They aren't necessarily near one another in real life.

Poor wording on my part. My concern, being one of the most populous nations in CP, is that If I were to pick last then I would have to pick from the random hexagons on the map which will not be unified body. I would like my nation to be one whole piece than a dots spread out on the map. This is the way most country boundaries are drawn in real life.

I've got a list of things to do on the map, and am still going forward with this project, but I have been busy with legislation and holidays.

Would you be Okay with it if I copied it and got those things done before delegacy elections in January

If you agree, Telegram me the list of things you need done, but, do NOT put it on a word document (I don't have Microsoft Office)
