    The Federation of Autonomous City-states is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, ruled by Ian Stormgren with a fair hand, and notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 13.357 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

    There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Law & Order. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Information Technology and Book Publishing.

    Scenic mountain valleys are flooded with water as damming projects get underway, unstable couples are known to break up over which one gets parental leave, scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, and the government has adopted a more thrifty attitude to administrating the country's needs.

    Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Autonomous City-states's national animal is the peregrine falcon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the electrum.
